As I softly cradle my nursing baby, a deep feeling of contentment saturates my being. Her silky, fine hair; her fresh, milky skin; her tiny, exploring fingers… These are the nectar of life! I realize that this, in great part, is what God made me for: to nourish growing babies in my womb, to fearlessly birth them, to nurture them with warm milk and tender hands, and to cherish and delight in them as I raise them into adults who will serve Him, also.
God designed women to bear children. We were each made with a womb. Our bodies were made to be able to provide for a baby in a way that men could never do. We are special!
Embracing that womanly role frees us to be all that God wants us to be! No, we are not baby-making machines. We are given the privilege of participating in the creation of immortal human beings who are made in the image of God. If that isn’t absolutely awesome, I don’t know what is!
When we women accept the contraceptive mentality and settle for society’s pattern of minimal childbearing, we actually allow the world to steal away one of the greatest gifts that God has given to us, and we surrender a key piece of our womanhood, as well. Not only that, but at the same time we permit the world (and the devil) to steal from us, we ourselves steal from God! We hold back our lives from Him, and rob Him of the total devotion that is rightfully His. We wives rob our husbands, and they rob us–of the fruitfulness that should naturally be produced in a godly marriage. Oh, the lies that we have believed!
God never, ever told us to use birth control! In fact, He tells us in His timeless Word that He desires for us to have children. He tells us that fruitfulness is a blessing, not something to limit or stop. We have been deeply deceived. Let us go back to the Scriptures, and adore God with our obedience!
“And God blessed them [Adam and Eve], and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish [fill] the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Genesis 1:28
“And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.” Malachi 2:15
NKJV: “But did He not make them one, Having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring…”
“And he [Jesus] took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.” Mark 9:36-37
“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.” Psalm 128:1-4
